The Sound of Lucrecia

A couple of years ago some of us Gophers felt for the voice of Lucrecia Pérez. Lucrecia is a Colombian-born but Barcelona based singer, one of those musicians for whom many a critic have ventured to qualify with clichéd words like “siren” or “mermaid”, attributing her haunting sounds to the pull of mythology and not just the earthly result of Lucrecia’s work.

Here at the Gopher bunker we enjoy her distant voice and lyrics, undeniably amazing in her latests releases. However, we are most impressed by the geographically-named Congost. In it Lucrecia has reached new heights in the construction of everything melodic that surrounds her voice. Ranging from errie to quirky, or from dreamy, or landscape-y , what she has achieved with this record is a sound that finally stands alone as hers [ this is just her third album, mates ] We, too, venture out in saying this is an album made for headphone-listening. Traveling textures and such.
